May be the most famous one in Japan is “Ore ore sagi”. It is the fraud to make a phone call to the elderly pretending to their grandchild. And the criminals ask the elderly to pay money into one account since they have financial problems. I heard that those criminals use only phonebook, and search old style name, such as “Yone” and “Toshi” that are written in katakana. Then, their first saying is “Hi, grandma, it’s me!!!” Then the elderly imagine that the criminals are their grandchildren. Their trick is so simple, but it is well-planned one.
Another social engineering I know is to get credit card information, such as password from others. Some criminals peep the password around the ATM in banks.
Warning! Warning!!
The news that some miniature cameras were founded near the ATM surprised me.I think those criminals are sharp, but I won’t do same thing.
If I needed money, I will go to bank. Bank robbery? Non, non. I would ask the bank clerk to give me money and kneel down on the floor.
“Please fill my bag with Yukichi!”
